Baguazhang Lianxi Fa, by Jiang Rong Qiao; Translated by Joseph CrandallBaguazhang Lianxi Fa by Jiang Rong Qiao; Translated by Joseph Crandall
(Glossy Paperback, 97 pages, 8 1/2" x 11, over 300 line drawings
featuring Jiang Rong Qiao)
This translation of Jiang Rong Qiao's 1963 classic on the Old Eight Palms is
done by top internalist Joseph Crandall. The drawings, of the 8 palms and
Jiang's postures, that were originally drawn by internal stylist Zhou Yuan
Long, were drafted from both photos and posings by Jiang Rong Qiao
himself are reproduced here with clarity. Crandall's format is larger than the
original, and in doing so, the drawings seem to be also enlarged (although
they're the same size as the original). The larger format conveniently allows
ample room in the margins for note-taking.
Besides the translation of the text, Crandall's mention in his Translator's
Preface of Jiang's closest disciples, including Zou Shuxian, make it a
personal favorite.
